What to Know About Radon?

Radon gas is a common-place cause of cancer. Radon gas is known to cause lung cancer in humans.

Many properties in the Goodyear area have a radon gas level near or above the actionable limit.

Radon gas filters out of the soil, not the building. No structure, new or old, is immune to radon infiltration.

Each and every home meshes with the topsoil underneath it differently. That is part of the reason why properties adjacent to one another can have radically different radon gas levels.

Radon concentration will shift every day and with the seasons within an acceptable range. A short-term radon sample is a snapshot and a good metric of whether or not the land has a radon gas saturation.

Radon gas has a dangerous duration of only a few days. That means that radon concentration will not be any greater if the structure is enclosed for years or months.

How Does Radon Gas Infiltrate your home?

It may surprise you to know that homes are not totally gas-proof.

Vapors may enter through any ground-facing gap in the house such as drainage, utility connections, and invisible gaps in the foundation’s concrete.

The way to know with certainty the levels of radon gas in the structure is to contract a radon test.

Radon Testing Procedures

Measuring a house for radon is a special procedure when delivered alongside a property transaction.

Our radon technician will situate the radon gas probes in the house. Radon analyzers are placed on any level that touches the ground. Typically between 1 and 3 devices are located in the house for the radon testing.

Your radon gas expert will shut every window and door, seal the vent on the fireplace, and ensure the heating and cooling system is functioning in the prescribed manner. Your radon expert will additionally mark all necessary windows with anti-tampering tape to make sure that closed home conditions are upheld.

The radon monitors are left in the building for a few days to analyze the saturation of radon gas in the house. A professional will return to the structure once the radon testing is done to return the analyzers and create a report.
