Tempe Radon Testing

What to Know About Radon Gas?

Radon gas is a dangerous cancer-causing chemical. Radon is proven to cause lung cancer in children and adults.

38%+ of homes in the Tempe area have a radon gas concentration near or above the carcinogenic limit.

Radon gas comes from the soil, not the home. No structure- new or old – is exempt from radon gas contamination.

Each house interacts with the ground beneath it in a different manner. This is why houses adjacent to each other may have majorly different radon gas concentrations.

Radon gas saturation will fluctuate on different days and seasonally inside an acceptable range. A one-time radon test measures a single day or week and is a good bellwether of whether or not the house has a radon issue.

Radon has a lifespan of only a few days. As such, radon gas accumulation will not be higher if the structure is enclosed for months or years.

How Does Radon Gas Enter your dwelling?

Houses are not supposed to be gas-proof.

Gas can enter through every ground-facing gap in the house such as sump pumps, plumbing, and minor gaps in the concrete work.

Your way to know confidently the concentration of radon gas in the property is to run a radon test.

Radon Gas Test Steps

Inspecting a house for radon gas is a unique procedure when delivered concurrently with a real estate sale.

The radon gas specialist will position the radon analyzers in the house. Radon analyzers are placed in crawl spaces and on the first floor. Typically, several analyzers are located on the property for radon testing.

Our radon expert will close every window, close the flue on the chimney, and ensure the air conditioning is operating in the standard manner. Our radon specialist will also mark any required window with tamper indication tape to make sure that draft requirements are met.

The radon probes stay in the home for several days to record the prevalence of radon gas in the building. An expert will come back to the property once the radon testing is done to return the analyzers and write a report.

Please call today for a no-cost consultation! Our radon testing consultants will meet with you to help you with your property, measure your space, and get you on target for making your Tempe home one you can enjoy completely!
